Events:
Youth Summer Camp June 9-August 8, 2008.
The Mosaic Art Project: Every Piece Fits! will invite Youth Summer Camp, staff, parents and adult volunteers and other community members to add a tile piece to the collage design on the large 24" X 36" planter displayed at the Pleasant Ridge Center. This planter will be kept at the Pleasant Ridge location on display for the community to share. Success of the project will be based upon completion of all donated tiles, community support and participation. Mosaic Art research and design will be offered by CRC staff and Guest Artist during daily scheduled art camp projects. Paper mosaic projects will be taught to demonstrate the mosaic technique prior to the actual tile application. Planter will be prepared for mosaic tile application and displayed during the Ridge Day event on Saturday July 12th at the Cincinnati Recreation Commission’s Pleasant Ridge Center. Activities coinciding with the Ridge Day celebration will provide high visibility of community involvement of participants and provide a chance to share artistic expression and community pride. Artists from the Arts Beyond Boundaries program will offer participation through exhibit and leadership in arts programming during the event. This project will invite a multicultural and multigenerational population to collaborate in creating a mosaic collage design for the community to enjoy and share for years. The goal of this project is in accordance with the CILO mission to break down architectural and attitudinal barriers, build bridges to understanding, and create options and choices in the continuous process of empowerment of persons with disabilities. We are planning on creating a successful public art project by providing an open invitation opportunity to socialize, create and communicate a sharing of artistic expression.
